From my understanding of how it works, at least as far as the G3D driver mode is, and maybe Ralf (developer of VorpX) can chime in on this if he's reading this, is, it works by providing a proxy driver for 3D. Eventually, I learned through lots of reading and finding a post somewhere, that that wasn't the case and I can confirm from first-hand experience that, yes it DOES have a theatre type of mode in it, but that's not why it has the claim of 3D that it does. It's why I was so reluctant to buying it initially. Initially, I thought VorpX's claim to 3D was to just display it on a virtual screen in theatre mode as well. If the game you're trying to use is still looking pancake, it's likely due to a setting you (or for whatever reason VorpX itself) has set in the in-game VorpX overlay. Personally as someone who wears glasses, I find the HTC Vive to be much more comforatble. Can I get around this problem by only launching Oculus titles from Oculus Home, and only Vive titles via Steam VR? I find Oculus Home to be annoying as hell but if I can keep them separated by doing this it may be worthwhile.Īny insights would be appreciated since this has been bugging me for a while. Messing with the SteamVR settings when switching headsets is rather annoying. It now has a green light without the laser grid, and I can feel the motor spinning. I was able to put the audio switch back but even after I updated the Bluetooth drivers within SteamVR it still wouldn't sleep like it used to. Eventually the Vive was working again but the base stations no longer sleep like they used to with a blue light, and my audio switch settings disappeared. When I switched the HDMI connection back to the Vive I had to reboot the headset a couple of times before it registered correctly in SteamVR. I noticed that after I installed the Oculus after the Vive, SteamVR started showing the Rift sensor instead of the Vive base stations. Is anyone running both on the same machine? How are people switching between the two? I have a GTX 970 so I only have 1 HDMI port so while I have all USB cables from HTC Vive and Oculus Rift plugged in all the time, I have to swap out the HDMI.
